Is God Still On Your Back Burner?

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33) When Jesus said this, He was making it very clear that God should be our number one priority above everything else. At times, people find themselves battling various trials and tribulations in life, wondering where God is and how they even got there. But, they don’t realize that some of those challenges didn’t come as a test from God; rather, they were the result of a misaligned relationship with God. We are all guilty of doing things our own way, and then asking God to get on board afterwards—that’s not how God works fam. To live a life surrendered to Him means letting Him guide you. But in order for God to guide you, you have to hear Him clearly. So tell me, what is drowning out God’s voice in your life?

Why Settle?

It’s such a liberating feeling to be with someone that makes you happy. It’s even more exhilarating to think that person is your soulmate, or the person you were destined to be with. You invest a great deal of time, effort and money into them, as well as sacrifice for them, in hopes of this being the relationship that lasts forever. Sometimes we become so consumed in it that we begin to overlook signs that maybe we are in over our heads. Maybe it starts with small habits they exhibit that starts ticking you off more than it used to. You say, “Nobody’s perfect.” Then, maybe you begin to realize the arguing happens a little more often, and usually goes unresolved. So you might say, “Every relationship has its troubles.” The list of the little things people tend to ignore in relationships goes on and on. We become blind to the truth that’s right in front of us; the truth that maybe, just maybe, we aren’t with our future wife, or husband. But how does one really determine this?

That’s My Best Friend, Who’s Also My Bae?

“My best friend. My best friend.” The person that holds that special place in your heart. Not a sibling. Not a cousin. But a best friend. That person obviously holds that title because they play a significant, and beneficial, role in your life in more ways than one. But have you ever had a time when you wanted more than just a close friendship? I mean, clearly you love their company, the conversations you all have, their personality, and overall, who they are as a person; they would seem like a great choice! But are they? I’m sure the thought of starting a relationship with a best friend has crossed some of our minds at some point, but we probably never acted on it. Why is that?

Valentine's Day is for Suckers? | A Make or Break Holiday

Will you be mine? Such few words carry so much weight. Those words usually come about on Valentine's Day, a day with a lot of mixed emotions. There are usually multiple groups on the matter, those whom having no valentine has been a yearly thing, those in relationships who of course have no problem finding one, those singles who usually have valentines and others. Valentine's Day has become pretty popular since its meaning changed from back in the 5th century to remember the death of a martyr. It's become pretty Americanized since then and now represents a special day we show extra special love to that extra special someone. Of course you shouldn't need one day specifically to show someone you care, but its become tradition that this be a special day that maybe you tell that person you like them, or you take the next step with someone you're committed to. Whatever the reason may be, Valentine's Day has become a big deal and a huge part of our lives.

I Just Don't Get It

Life. That word in itself carries so much impact and significance, you wouldn't believe. Thus leading to the question: What is the meaning of life? I am going to end your long journey of searching for this answer right now. There is none. Life can not have a definition because it has no particular way it operates, never is the same for every person, and does not follow a natural order. It’s funny how life is, as complicated as it may be. Like how here I am typing this piece while you’re reading it at whatever given point in time. That’s more of a phenomenon actually, so let’s get back to the point - life. One thing I've noticed is how there are so many contradictions in life. For instance, people will tell you never judge a book by its cover, yet when they see someone dressed or acting a certain way, they are so quick to judge. Why do certain wealthy individuals believe they are better than less fortunate people, when some of them came from the same situations.
