Dang, Can I Catch a Break?

It seems like these days, everyone is dealing with one situation or the other. People have lost loved ones, jobs, friends, relationships, and their minds, trying to manage it all. It is extremely difficult to see any good in a situation when things seem dire; even more so when it seems to be one challenge after another. It’s also not an easy task to support and console those in your life that are going through these circumstances when you can’t imagine what it’s like to be in their shoes. But take heart - I’m here to reassure you that despite your situation, all hope is not lost.

No One Has Forever

We all have loved ones - family, friends, partners, the list goes on. And I’m sure we believe that they all know we love and care about them very much. But how do we know for sure? How do we show that? How do we remind those we care about that they matter to us and that we truly cherish them? Surely, it doesn’t require doing something every moment of their lives to make sure it stays fresh in their minds. And it shouldn’t. However, throughout this season of the pandemic, it has become abundantly clear that the time we have left with them is limited. So, it becomes our duty and responsibility to ensure we use the time we do have to show those we love how much they mean to us. And the crazy thing is that as much as we remind ourselves of this fact and see people losing loved ones a bit more often than we’d like, we still don’t take it seriously. Hence, the motivation behind this post – to list reasons why we should make time for those we care about while they are still here with us.

The Company You Keep

We all have people in our lives that we hold close to our hearts. We call some of them friends, some of them besties, and some we even call family. Eventually, these individuals begin fulfilling some role(s) in our lives- going out with us, tagging along on trips, imparting wisdom when needed, accompanying us to whack events, etc. Regardless of the reason, these are people we have chosen to keep around. We are so used to them that we probably don’t notice how they could be influencing our own lives. It’s crazy to think, right? They already accepted us for who we are; so why would we try to change ourselves? That’s just it; we don’t- at least, not intentionally. We may not realize it but their presence alone does more than we give it credit.

Gone Too Soon

We all have loved ones. We'd be lying if we said we didn't. They are the ones we hold closest to us, and that mean more to us than anything. Usually these are your direct family members, the people who have been in your life since you took your first breath. Then there are your blood relatives, close relatives, family friends, and so on. But loved ones aren't just family, they are our friends, best friends, bffs, bffls, boyfriends, girlfriends, and others we have encountered in our lives with whom we have formed a special, unbreakable bond. These connections that we share with those special individuals are not only what make us human, but also make the world an easier place to live in.
