Accepting Yourself

We have all had those time when we look at ourselves and wonder why someone doesn't like us, or why we are perceived as "different" because of how others see us. This usually leads down two roads. The first road is merely accepting the fact that there are differing qualities between you and others. The other road is insecurity. We enter a phase where we are racking our brains trying to figure out why we are different and whether it is bad or not. This is known otherwise as insecurity. This is also a characteristic that holds us back in life. Once a person becomes insecure, they lose self-esteem, one of the worst things that could ever happen to a person. Why? Because it means you will fall victim to the world and its negative influences. Whatever the case may be, it is a virus that lives inside of you until you can overcome it.

The ironic thing is, the cure stands right in front of us everyday. The only thing it requires is for a person to embrace it. That cure is acceptance. When I was younger, this was called adolescence. The faze in a young person's life when they are exposed to so many things in the world and sometimes do not know how to react to it appropriately. I went through it and it took me a very long time before I was able to overcome it and use my wrong actions to become a stronger person. I really feel for the youth I can clearly see are going through the same things I did, and wish I could save them from continuing down the wrong path. So why don't I? Well, that is because for one to accept who they are, they must do it on their own. Don't get me wrong, it always helps to give people encouraging words about who they are. However, down the road, you may not be there forever for that person. That person must come to the full realization that they are different and that is perfectly fine. It is what makes them unique.

Maybe it will take someone being found by the love of their life to accept who they are. Maybe it takes facing an experience where your different quality actually helps other people. Whatever it takes, they will be doing so much good for themselves and their self-esteem when they do so. When more people are able to accept who they are, it benefits everyone because the world becomes a better place. It saves lives because we no longer will people have to worry about teens committing suicide over cyber-bullying. It will help create more positive people who have self-respect and do not let others take advantage of them. It helps create genuine individuals who be who they really are, rather than being someone they are not. Imagine the kind of world that would be!

So to close, I hope a person going through this faze in life reads this blog and finds it uplifting. I hope I served as a positive influence to lead you down the right path. You are not alone. You have people who want to help you and people who will stand behind you no matter what. Trust and believe that you are an amazing person, and who you are makes a difference for the entire world.
